ARTIST
STATEMENT
I am an artist, mother, and seeker—physically grounded in the present, spiritually engaged with the unseen. While painting has been my primary medium, my practice is expanding to include performance and installation, allowing for a more immersive exploration of the human experience: how we love, how we suffer, and how we navigate the tensions between individuality and collectivity, freedom and expectation, memory and possibility.
Rooted in my upbringing in Santa Marta, Colombia—a place of vibrant culture, folklore, and resilience—my work carries the rhythm of mysticism and joy, shaped in contrast to a complex history of violence and inequality. Since relocating to the U.S., my awareness of identity, displacement, and cultural perception has deepened. With a background in design and a self-directed evolution into fine arts, my journey has been one of reclaiming voice and purpose—transforming wounds into stories, and silence into dialogue.
I explore themes of trauma, rebirth, and societal conditioning—unraveling the internal and external narratives that confine us. I am currently developing a new body of work that investigates personal and collective healing, with a focus on the emotional and psychological aftermath of abuse. Though still in its early stages, this work aims to create space for witnessing, strength, and transformation.
To me, art is not simply expression—it is a language of connection. Each piece invites reflection, recognition, and empathy. I do not aim to offer answers, but rather to hold space for questioning, for feeling, and for authentic encounter. My work resists conformity to institutional frameworks and instead embraces a visual dialogue that honors nuance, complexity, and the messiness of being human.
In a polarized world, I choose to create bridges. I believe art can heal, awaken, and unite, moving us beyond intellect and into a shared emotional reality. This is my offering: a spectrum of stories, memories, and possibilities, anchored in love, shaped by resilience, and illuminated by the magic of being alive.
